Currie Crescent Cooking Circles
Organisation Description
The Cooking Circles project sees empowered women building communities around themselves through food, cooking and storytelling with other women. The project has been in operation since 2014 and is auspiced by YWCA Canberra.
Service Description
The Cooking Circles project aims to reduce social isolation by building relationships between women and girls in the ACT.
Their activities and events include:
- Weekly lunches at Currie Crescent Community Centre, where each week a different ‘host’ leads the cooking with recipes close to her heart, teaching these to a group of 5 to 15 women
- Monthly in-home lunches and dinners, which run in the homes of different women in the Cooking Circles Canberra network and include a variety of cuisines
