ACT Health - Obesity Management Service

The Obesity Management Service (OMS) supports adults with a high level of obesity (Body Mass Index over 40kg/m2) to improve their health and wellbeing. The OMS focuses on those who are at high risk of developing complications from their obesity or those who already have limiting health problems. The OMS team includes doctors, nurses, dietitians, psychologists and exercise physiologists. The team works with adults to achieve a healthier lifestyle through group education, physical activity programs, strategies to support long-term self-management and improve social and emotional wellbeing.

The OMS accepts patients over the age of 18 who have been referred by their GP or medical specialist.

Capital Clinic Physiotherapy offer the following clinical Pilates services:

  • Small group Pilates mat-work classes, which are run in small groups (limited to a maximum of 10 people per class) and facilitated by qualified physiotherapists
  • Individual Pilates mat-work and reformer sessions, sessions are one-on-one session allowing a more personalised experience

An individual assessment by a physiotherapist is recommended prior to commencing the classes so that movement can be analysed and any postural issues or movement dysfunction can be identified.
